I’m proud to say…

…that I am the new momma/owner of not one but two baby dragon trees!!! Anyone who knows me, knows that I’ve been obsessed with a certain downtown Fort Lauderdale tree for some time now. Just recently, with the help of Elissa I found out the actual name of the tree that I was looking for (I had always just referred to the tree as the “Magic” tree), which began my almost obsessive search for one of my own. I quickly found that the Dracaena Draco otherwise known as a “Dragon Trees” are kind of hard to come across, unless you live in the Canary Islands, which I obviously don’t.

Imagine my surprise, then, when out for a walk with Scott, we ran straight into a Dragon Tree two streets down form our house. Long story short, we asked the neighbor where he had gotten his tree (he was in the gardening business) and he gave us the name of a place that “might” have “one or two”. Scott ended up calling the nursery and then actually riding by on his bike just to see if they had any. To my extreme disappointment, he informed me that they had none. I was super crushed. A couple of days later, I arrived at the house after work and Scott made me cover my eyes and walk outside. When he finally let me open them, standing in front of me was a perfect little baby dragon tree! He had fibbed to me about the nursery not having the trees and said that they actually had more than one. We made the decision that day they we wanted them both.

We are still trying to figure out exactly what kind of landscaping we want to do with trees, but we know that they will be with us for a long time!

Purring Cougar

So, I’m working on a project involving cats, and I just HAVE to share this video I found of a purring cougar. Yeah, I am fully aware that he could rip my face off in one swat of the paw, but I still want to grab his face and kiss his little nose!

If I Ever Have A Baby Girl…

… she might end up being quite morbid. While most potential mothers dream of painting their daughter’s room with pink bows, butterflies and glitter, I am quite fond of the following:

Titania Sleeps By: Krista Huot

Riding By Night - By: Krista Huot

Lily of the Valley - By: Krista Huot

Souvenir - By: Krista Huot

Sure, they may be a “bit” dark and gloomy, but there’s still a fare share of unicorns and fairies floating around to satisfy my “cutesy” side. :) Check out more of Krista Huot’samazing work here.

My Current Desktop View

So I stumbled upon these little gems this morning, and I have to day they really made my day. If you take a look at the rest of David Lanham’s Work you’ll find that he has the imagination of a 4 year old, trapped in a fine artist’s body. I’m jealous.

Colour Lovers

If i’m ever stuck in a design rut and need inspiration, Colour Lovers always delivers. Always. Today is no exception.

I got this tasty little nugget of brain food from my twitter feed just this afternoon. “Abstract Impressionistic Photography”. It’s everything I could ever love about photography and art all rolled into one bundle.

Here’s a perfect quote from Paul Pacey that sums up the entire movement:
“A shift in traditional photographic approaches, intuitively borrowing a page from the Impressionist masters. Simply put, “I think I’m just a painter trapped in a photographer’s body”, says Paul of this new work.” – Prague Daily Monitor

Abstract Impressionistic Photography

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
